Alban De Loisy Director General at Fondation François Sommer attended a meeting with H.E. Mr. Roberto Albino, Ministério da Agricultura, Ambiente e Pescas (Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Fisheries), last Monday in Maputo.This high-level meeting served to confirm the unwavering commitment of FFS, in strong partnership with ANAC (Administração Nacional das Áreas de Conservação), toward the sustainable management of Parque Nacional do Gilé/ Gilé National Park.
The discussions focused on the finalization of a new bilateral collaborative management agreement. This framework will provide the operational foundation for an ambitious Conservation and Development project that Fondation François Sommer intends to implement over the next 10 years.
The project is built upon strengthening protections for the unique flora and fauna of the region, ensuring the long-term integrity of the wildlife ecosystems within GNAP and prioritizing the development of communities in the Buffer Zone to ensure a full sharing of the benefits of these conservation efforts.Through this renewed partnership, the Fondation François Sommer and Administração Nacional das Áreas de Conservação continue to demonstrate that the protection of natural heritage is inseparable from the prosperity of the people who safeguard it.
